Seems to be a good deal:

Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 processor 1.7GHz - M
256MB DDR SDRAM
30.0GB hard drive
DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive
Windows XP; 14.1" display

Original Price $1,099 - $150 Instant = $949 - $100 + $50 MIR = $799

Haven't really heard of vpr Matrix before. Anybody know if this is a good notebook or not? With these specs, the price seems to make it a good value. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any experience before I spend the $$.

I have this laptop and it is a great deal if it stands up to road abuse. It is fast, light and user friendly. The only question is longevity at th point IMHO. Other than that I am impressed with all it can do.

actually i wish u could upg to a better video card or add more mem...coz 16meg is kinda weak.
radeon 7500 is pretty decent but this setup needs more mem...at least 32megs.

Ya, I tend to agree... I have the 170b4 though, with 16 meg 7500 radeon, and I can play battlefield 1942 just fine, it runs smooth, so I was a little surprised, and pleased... But still, I would want 32 meg just because I would feel better :)

There is a ton of discussion on this at the VPR matrix forums, infoarena.com...

I have the 170B4, same as this one, except it only comes with a 20GB harddrive. I added an additional 256MB RAM (total is 512MB). It now says that I have 32MB of video memory!

you might wanna look into the 180b5. some stores still have floor models, and it should be around $900. 15" display, 512mb ram, mini wireless card

I found a 200A5 for $1049(open box). I like the widescreen but seem to find conflicting reviews about the quality and make of this unit. I'd appreciate comments from any of you owners about this notebook.

They're back in stock, folks - but for $1099 less $100 and $50 MIR or $949 total (after rebates show up). Anyone have any other pointers to coupons / deals / etc. to sweeten the deal? Thanks! May be time to replace my 75 MHz Pentium laptop...

I need some help. Sorry to bother you, but I need to get a copy of the upc symbol from the VPR 170b4 notebook to file for my rebate. The rebates are requiring only the photocopy of the UPC symbols and the rebate center told me the product code must match but any serial number information is not relevant or recorded by the rebate center or by Best Buy.

Do you think you could send me a photocopy of the one from your box either via fax or email a jpg copy of it?
