VPN setup Question

Anyone know how to debug a VPN connection? I set up a VPN connection to the WAN at work. I can connect to the network but I can not ping my computer. When I ping I get my IP address but the ping times out. I figure something is blocking the connection but I'm not sure what it is.

I was actually on the phone with one of the IT guys and we could not figure out what was going on. I even tried disabling my software firewall but no go.

Specs

Running XP Pro
McAFee Security Center
MS Firewall is disabled

Oh and it's a Dell so who knows what crap they might have running on my machine.
 
Make sure that your PC responds to a Ping from the local network.

If you have name resolution (which you seem to have), then it almost HAS to be a firewall.

I've had client's VPNs not function properly until McAfee's stuff was REMOVED. Disabling the firewall didn't seem to fix the problem.
