VPN Router

This summer i may be upgrading my el-cheapo DLink router to a higher class router, preferably one that will allow me to remote into it via VPN to access shared folders, etc., on my internet network. I have been looking heavily at some of Netgear's offerings. My current thoughts are to go with just a standard 10/100 router and get an 802.11g AP to hang off of it for multiple reasons. A) i dont' want to spend an extra $100 on a router that only has G when N is right around the corner. B) my router is usually located within spitting distance of my modem, which is rarely near an acceptable spot for wireless broadcasts, and having the AP seperate woudl allow me to place it somewhere more convienent and effective.

Anybody got an hardware recommendations for implementing this? I have even considered going with some Cisco gear but i would like to stay away from THAT much of an investment 🙂

Linksys (Cisco) make a nice mid range product group. They support redundant WAN connections as well as VPN capabilities. The four port model is probably under $150. They also happen to be the first Cisco made Linksys products, so they carry over a lot of good technology with them. Up until this point Linksys has pretty much just carried forward with their pre aquisitions plans.
