Couple of issues, first is I setup the vpn connection, setup port forwarding for 1723, I tested it and I was able to connect to it no problem, I just setup windows xp home to do this.

I was able to ping the IP's on the local network without a problem, I even brought up a share and saw the shared folders and printer.

I was not able to connect to the printer or the shared folders. Then I tried it in a about an hour later and now when I go to connect it says verifying username and password but will not go any further. Before if I entered a wrong username it would let me know, now it just sits there.

What changed? Why did it work before and not now? BTW when a person tries to connect to it locally it still works.

This is probably correct. MS makes a tool to make sure that the proper DNS is being used when connected to the VPN. Do a search on it and you should find it.

It has been a couple of years. We used it at work to create the vpn login. You enter the parameters, it creates a exe...and you install it and it provides the shortcut and uses the proper dns configuration... anyone else use this tool...i cannot remember the name.
