vpn in Vista Home

The fine boys at Geek Squad to me that Vista Home doesnt have the VPN capability. I found instructions online saying they do.

I am in need of buying a home computer, and need to be able to VPN into work and also access a NAS device on my home network.

GS said the NAS device s/b no problem, but the VPN would be.

Whats the truth? I have software I use once I make the VPN to control computers on that network, I just need to make the connection.

I dont have the computer yet.

I dont want to buy the wrong version, and the home version should be fine if I can set up the VPN.

Can anyone confirm that a VPN connection can be setup in Vista Home Baasic?

Actually, I am not sure. I use the default connection wizard in XP PRO to create a connection to my workplace, and select VPN. It doesnt seem to ask what type, so I am not sure.

That is PPTP. I am quite sure that it is included in every version of windows vista but I only run ultimate, so I can't check for you.

Windows VPN CLIENT software is included in all versions, as far as I know. I have customers doing VPN connections from Vista Home Premium and Vista Business.
