Hi!

Anyone own the Viewsonic monitor in question? The viewsonic USA website states its viewing angles are 160 degrees - but the UK site says that the viewing angles are 140 degrees!

Also, the UK site states it is a 16.2mil (16bit) color unit - but retailers have it as a 16.7mil screen (24bit).

I am looking for a 17" with 16.7mil colours and a 8 or 12ms response. Does the viewsonic have this?

Cheers.

16bit and 24bit?

i thought panels were rated with either 6bit or 8bit

1)i doubt there'd be much difference between 16.2 and 16.7 million colours
2) 8ms and 12ms displays are more likely to be 6bit (as apposed to 8bit) displays
3) and i dont think your gonna notice between 140 and 160 degress either...thats like an extra 10 degrees either side

I currently have the LG 1780U and this has a 6bit screen (16.2mil) and the backgrounds look grainy in parts. Same as using a CRT monitor. Get a full colour pic on your desktop and drop it to 16bit colour - u will see it looking grainy.

Anyone recommend a 16.7mil colour TFT that is great for gaming too?

The Samsung 173P+ looks cool - but isnt released yet :(
