Is this a pre-excuse for if Palin gets smashed in this debate? Everyone has a preference one way or another, you know that right? Yea, writing a book is a bit extreme, but still.

And we have a winner!!!

Swing and a miss.

Sorry I didn't run it by you first. I'll try to remember the proper procedures next time ;) .

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah

You act as if there has never been a conservative moderating a debate. I'm not apologizing for the media, I'm attacking the morons that are crying about this.

Inexcusible. She needs to be kicked out that position. Nobody can argue with this. She is clearly very pro obama and should not be mediating a debate.

Ifill is a human being with her own set of opinions. She's also an experienced, respected, award winning journalist.

The only thing that's "inexcusable" is your presumption that she can't be an impartial moderator. It would be pretty obvious if anything she says or does during the debate is blatantly biased.

Of course, I expect such charges from the right wing apologists if she asks Palin anything tougher than her own name or which direction Russia is from her front porch.

Dude, if this was the same exact journalist who happened to write the same book but about McCain, most of the posters here would've raised hell by now.

Didn't the McCain camp approve this moderator when it was still being setup? What's the problem?

Sure. The reason that Palin will go down in flames is because of the person asking the questions ... maybe they should have asked for Charlie Gib..... er Katie Cou.... wait a minute ......

Do you really think that's the point? Let me ask you this: if you're so certain Palin is going to go down in flames (frankly, as a McCain supporter, I don't give her much of a chance either), do you really want this clouding the issue in the aftermath?

I would think that, as an Obama/Biden supporter, you'd want accusations of bias at an absolute minimum. Since these accusations are usually standard fare from the losing candidate at a debate, why give conservatives this much ammunition?

First, I'm not sure she'll fail. The debate rules have been so carefully tuned to allow only minimal chance she blows it. Still a possibility though.

Second, there doesn't need to be any hint of favoritism for the McCain campaign to scream from the rooftops that there is. "Gotcha" journalism??

Third, it doesn't matter what she does at this point. Her image was set in stone the minute Tina Fey made a mockery of her on SNL .... or did she do it on her own?? Doesn't matter either way.

The McCain campaign has known about this for over a month. Ifill already disclosed this during a TV interview, and the information about the book was plainly visible on Amazon and her publisher's website.

They waited to launch this attack 36 hours before the debate to sabotage criticisms of Palin's pending failure.

But the American people will see Ifill ask her honest questions, only to be responded to with bogus answers.

Exactly they'd all be crying and whining. To make it fair lets just have Rush moderate the next debate.

McCain signed off on her as the debate moderator. That means you only really have 2 options. Either there's no problem with her, or the McCain campaign is so incompetant that they are unable to vet debate moderators before agreeing to them.

So, which one is it?

No kidding, that right there should end the partisan whining about how they're "victims."

Hey cool, maybe Hannity can be the moderator for the next debate?

lol I'd love to see a debate moderated by Rush.

Obama and McCain moderated by Rush would be awesome, neither likes him and he likes neither of them.

It would be a hoot. Better if he gets to choose the questions.

Suspicion: McCain camp signed off on Ms. Ifill knowing that if needed later in the event of a bad showing by Gov. Palin, her book could be used as "proof" that she was biased.

Reality: People are capable of putting aside their personal preferences to do a job in a neutral fashion.

Everyone here is setting the bar so low for Palin that if she pronounces her name correctly, it will be reported that she smashed Biden.

Maybe so... but she wrote a fucking book declaring her support of Obama. Its like you moderating the debate only somehow you sprouted half a brain.

1. It isn't PRO-Obama...it's about blacks in politics.
2. The Republicans were well aware of the book when they co-selected her as a moderator

There is no way she can be replaced, she is ?minority?. If she is, that would give the liberal media enough fuel for years. She knows that very well and will use it to the max to stay in it and make sure she makes her 350k stake in the book. I am sure she has major contribution in getting herself selected for the job, its easy, if someone don?t listen to you just play the race card.

Just shows how far we have gotten ourselves into this minority kiss ass mess...

Hey stop attacking this women......I mean Ifill.

What part don't you numbbskulls understand.

The McCain approved of her. This is just a stunt to bitch after the debate if Palin bombs.

The book was announced in July.

Either the McCain camp is lying or incompitant, take your pick.

If I was a moderator I would put an official EOT stamp on this. ;)

She is writing a book about blacks in modern politics, culminating in the Obama nomination and presidential campaign. Learn facts, then post. Reduce foot-in-mouth incidents.
