I'm surprised $5 footlong lasted as long as it did considering their 12" prices have continued to increase regularly.

It's a loss leader for the sodas, chips, and cookies, which are all much higher-margin.

Not really a fan of Subway. Our town got 1 like 2 years ago, so every once in awhile the kid will want a sandwich from there for dinner. I would only ever get a cold cut combo, which is still $5 for the footlong I believe, or I'd get the Italian BMT, but that mess is expensive. My go to place now is Deli Delicious, but they're pricey. Good sandwiches, and I usually just order the french dip because it's just meat, chease and bread. They pile on the meat. Togo's is pretty good too, but pricey also. Never been to a Jersey Mike's.

They used to have a LOT cheaper, like ... I could buy 3 footlongs for like $8 or so back in the 90s.
Need at least 2 of them to make a meal.
