Voting reform: instant runoff voting?

When you go to the poll you vote who you want as the #1 for an election, who you want as 2nd most, and who you want 3rd most.

This allows, when there are 3+ candidates, you to vote for who you want to win without it actually being a vote for who you least want to win.

Well, it tries to alleviate some of the major problems with plurality voting. Thats not to say IR doesn't have problems of it's own.

I liked it, but then the French use it

I like it more then just plain plurality voting though.
