So, you wanna know which groups are likely to have voted for which candidate? Do old white men really vote mostly for Romney? Do blacks really vote mostly for Obama? And did the GOP really alienate women? Funny you should ask, because that data just happens to be available. And it's even summarized in an easy to read chart for lazy people.

That leaves out the number of voters, alot of black voters came out to vote obama since he is black. Full stop. If he were not on the ticket and it was two white guys facing off against each other [as was standard] they would have stayed home...Im sure some Mormons voted for Romney for the same reason so I cant fault black people for voting for "their" guy. A chart showing the total number of black voters in 04 vs 08/12 would be interesting. I bet 08/12 eclipses the turnout of 04 easily.

So Romney won 46% (48% overall) of women, but only 32% of single women. While winning 55% of married women.

So much for the idea that women won't vote Republican huh

Neo-nazi website says liberals, minorities and Jews vote Obama? Amazing.

WTF is this " people close to the heart of America"? Oh, he means the old white people who think they are entitled to claim they ever a heart in the first place.

Huh? The OP doesn't really seem to have a point. And why the hell would anyone like to Vdare, a well known race-baiting site? lol.

Republicans can't keep their big freaking mouths shut!

I am loving it. They are apparently acting under a compulsion to destroy their own party!

Posting from a right wing anti immigration webiste? Check.

Using a graph that calls Obama supporters the fringe while Romney supporters the core? Check

Pissing off the fastest growing segments of voters by calling them the "fringe"? Check

Even if a Republican candidate wanted to let every hispanic who wanted to come to America get in and get automatic citizenship along with a check for 100 thousand dollars the people who make up the Republican party will continue to hate them and demonize and consider them less than white people. So hispanics will take the money and still vote for Democrats.

I'm loving it.

One category that sticks out weird is "Unlikely Voters." How do they determine "unlikely voters" who voted? ("Likely voters" for that matter)

That article is exactly as thoughtful and even-handed as one would expect from the author of "AMERICA’S HALF-BLOOD PRINCE: BARACK OBAMA’S "STORY OF RACE AND INHERITANCE." (Don't blame me for the allcaps - I just copied and pasted that from the article.)

Draw your own conclusions. You may not like the source, or the author, but you can't argue with the data, unless your fragile worldview can't handle it.

Did the blacks vote overwhelmingly for Obama? Check. Ditto for hispanics. Whites overall preferred Romney.

Married women preferred Romney while single women overwhelmingly wanted Obama. Independent voters preferred Romney. Homeowners favored Romney, while renters favored Obama.

Certain leftists would like to have everyone believe that the "new America" is with Obama and only old, white men voted for Romney. The actual data paints quite a different picture.

"Certain leftists" is kind of a non-specific group to single out. "Certain leftists" believe the moon is made of cheese and "certain righties" believe in a literal translation of the Bible. Pointless to even bring up. But I'll entertain you; basically, you're saying that an overwhelming majority of blacks, asians, hispanics, jews, gays, young people and a majority of women support Obama, but because whites and, uh, some homeowners and married women (but fewer women total) also support Romney....it's not just white people that support Romney!

Gee, fail much? lol.

How was the chart generated? I went to the Reuters site and typed in categories like "renters" and "blacks" but I didn't get any results.

The idea that some minorities, and women don't know their places, and would vote for a republican makes some of the leftist here's heads explode, it's funny to watch.

I've seriously never in my life seen a bigger group of sore winners than today's leftist loons.

48% of everyone voted Romney
46% of women voted Romney

That is not exactly a huge disparity. Especially given how much Democrats have been saying the Republicans are waging a "war on women".

Despite how much Democrats want Republicans to have a problem with women voters the facts speak otherwise.

In fact http://www.cawp.rutgers.edu/fast_facts/voters/documents/GGPresVote.pdf

Previous women's vote % for Republicans

McCain 43
Bush04 48
Bush00 43
Dole 38
Bush92 37
Bush88 50
Reagan84 56
Reagan80 46

So in fact Romney gained 3% of the women vote over McCain in 2008.

It is a very specific group. But I won't be calling out that group of posters on the forum. And I see how you automagically went from "old white men" to "white people." Try harder.

The old, white men I know voted for Obama, actually.

Renters is a euphemism for blacks, and blacks is a euphemism for african americans. You need to search for african american.

If Obama got the most votes doesn't that make his supporters the "core" and Romneys the 'fringe"?

Why, yes, it does.

I'd love it if you STFU. It's like listening to a bunch of drunken stoners. I mean congrats that your pile of shit won and all, but get off my lawn! :D

If those numbers are accurate and they are probably close it sure tells the picture of a pretty split country.

Did you know that african americans generally vote with the Democratic party? Has nothing to do with Obama, its just they don't vote for racists in the Republican party. Mormons voted for Romney because they were told to.

Also no surprise that Munky is visiting a white supremacist website.

While not a huge disparity, Romney DID get the support of significantly fewer women than Obama. Obviously it's not a black and white difference, but a few percent in any direction is the margin of victory in many elections...so I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it as a non-existent issue for Republicans. And given the election results, I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss ways Republicans can gain ANY support.
