The saddest thing is that it's not remotely unamerican, it's just reflective of the part of American history we like to ignore - that in which systematic violence and domestic terrorism was used to keep a huge section of the population from voting for literally hundreds of years, including decades after we fought a civil war over it and gave them the legal right. Clever semi-legal tactics to keep blacks from voting is as American as apple pie, it's just we would all like to pretend we're in an age where that wouldn't be possible anymore. Of course it is, we just don't outright say it.

The fact that it's becoming so overtly condoned is the scary part.

Wow, this is just the most disgusting thing I have ever seen. Transparent effort to block people you're ideologically opposed to from voting.

So what, the DPS is Republican, and she said she was going to vote Democrat?

Elitism at its ugliest, these rich, white, privelaged fucks

Racist.

The thing I don't get is... why would Obama win PA if their legislature was just elected to be Republican?

Because it's been two years, and the people have had a chance to see the results of that Republican legislature that they elected on economic issues wasn't able to turn everything around on a pin after all.

Voter ID only removes fraud. It'll let Romney win closely contested states by keeping the dead from voting.
The problem here is that they are being enacted only months away from an election. To fully prevent only fraud, they need to be enacted long before an election.

I've needed my ID to vote, every time. But, the more stringent requirements to get IDs and renew existing IDs, coming in just months before a close election? Please. It's a dirty tactic.

why can't we just do like they did in the great democracy of iraq that we built???

fingerprint system. doesn't cost much, assures that nobody commits "fraud."

that wouldnt work would it?

Because no one's interested in a real solution to voter fraud. Democrats recognize that it's a nearly irrelevant issue that doesn't need an additional solution, Republicans only care about it insofar as they can use it to stop people from voting.

I'm not saying Democrats are magically better than these tactics if an easy one occurred to them, but in this case, the Republicans are pretty much acting like comic book super-villains.

Desperate people do desperate things....blatantly obvious despicable things, and then they give these things pretty names...pretty, deceptive, insidious contrived names.....over and over and over again.....for their very survival as an political entity.
