For me, it'd be:

Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening
Mass Effect 2
Metro 2033
Bioshock 2
Assassin's Creed 2

You've played ME1, right? If so, play ME2 first. If not, play ME1, then ME2.

Strike AC2 and Bioshock 2 from the list. Not too familiar with Metro 2033, sounds more like a tech demo for Fermi than an actual game though.

Flip a coin for ME2 and DAO:A. I know ME2 was badass, and DAO:A should be pretty slick.

I liked DA: Awakenings the most followed closely by ME2.

Tiny spoiler for enjoying DA: Awakenings more:
Visit the Blackmarsh first to pick up the best Bioware companion character since HK-47.

This is the biggest ill-informed ignorant comment Ive EVER read ANYWHERE before!

Having played all 5 and beating them all my choices are:

Mass Effect 2
Metro 2033
Assassin's Creed 2
Dragon Age: Origins - Awakening
Bioshock 2

But in reality they all must be played...with exception of Bioshock 2...really is not that great a game.

Everything I've read on Assassin's Creed says its a heavily consolized stinker. DAO:A and ME2 are both stellar games.

Like I said, I don't know much about Metro 2033, aside from the heavy advertising that Nvidia is pumping into it for Fermi. Since AC2 and Metro 2033 carry the 60 dollar console price tags and all the neutering, its my opinion that they should be avoided.

Assassins Creed 2 was developed on the consoles but it is anything but "consolized"...Bioshock 2 is a perfect example of that. AC2 is one of the best games Ive ever played. Period.

Metro 2033 is a good example of technical awesomeness but is FAR from a tech demo...it, just like AC2, is EXTREMELY enjoyable and one of the best single player games out today, and not just from this year...one of the best ever IMHO...

I wouldnt have been so harsh if you had actually played the games in order to comment on whats good/bad about them...the OP is asking for advice on which ones to play, and considering you haven't played half the games on the list you should probably try them before passing judgment.

Now Im going to have the shit scared out of me with some Metro 2033 action!

I can't speak for the PC version but the PS3 version of AC2 was stellar, one of my favorites last year, and easily worth $60. Unless you've actually played the PC version I think you're jumping the gun recommending against it.

Metro 2033 is $50 and isn't a console port.

Thanks for the input, everyone! I am definitely getting all of them, but can't play all at the same time; gets too distracting. So, like it or not, I am starting with Bioshock 2, and will follow this up with Mass Effect 2 (which will be better IMO), Dragon Age, Metro, and Assassin's Creed.

I genuinely found Bioshock 2 to be rubbish...not BAD but definitely not GOOD...too little changes and wayyyyy to repetitive!

rubbish = mediocre??

Yeah, I've been playing now for a few hours on Bioshock 2, and although it still has great graphics, atmosphere, etc., it still seems like an expansion to the first one rather than a sequel. Maybe it will pick up as I am not too far into it...

I'd go ME2 and then AC2 and then don't care :)

Mass Effect 2 was absolutely amazing. I just finished Assassin's Creed 2 and it was brilliant.

Though I did play both on my Xbox - if that matters. A friend finished AC2 on PC and apart from the "day 1 servers dying from attacks" issue, it's been mostly flawless.

Metro 2033 should definitely be 1st game you play. You will beat it a lot faster that any other game on your list. If you leave it for last, you might not get around to it at all, because Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age are long, and deep games that you can theoretically beat in a few days if you are a crazy maniac, but ideally, you should take your time with them. This in off course not to say that Metro 2033 is not deep or should be played through fast, without paying attentiaon to all the wonderful details.

Assuming you already beat Dragonage Ogigins, awakenings should be the 2d game you should play, followed by Mass Effect 2. The last one is tied between AC2 and BS2. I'd probably go with AC2 because it is supposedly a big improvement over the original unlike BS2 which although very good, is just more of the same and not something truly epic or novel when compared to the original.
