Vote for the New 7 Wonders of the World!

My picks:

The Acropolis of Athens (450 - 330 B.C.) Athens, Greece

Angkor (12th century) Cambodia

The Roman Colosseum (70 - 82 A.D.) Rome, Italy

Statues of Easter Island (10th - 16th Century) Easter Island, Chile

The Hagia Sophia (532 - 537 A.D.) Istanbul, Turkey

Machu Picchu (1460-1470), Peru

Petra (9 B.C. - 40 A.D.), Jordan

🙂

I don't see why the Eiffel tower or the Statue of Liberty or even the Sydney Opera House would be a wonder 😕

Great Wall of China
Pyramids of Giza
Vatican City
Taj Mahal
Chartres Cathedral
Minos' palace on Knossos.

Anyone who picks the Statue of Liberty is an idiot...

Why?

There are several structures on their list that hardly qualify as wonders, in my opinion.

The Eiffel Tower and statues on Easter Island aren't really wonders. Impressive? Yes. But marvels of engineering, no.

I thought this was supposed to be wonders of the modern world. Hoover Dam, Neuschwanstein Castle, Sydney Opera house, the ISS, etc. Things made in the last few centuries.

why? it is internationally recognized symbol of freedom and liberty for our era. it may not be as an impressive engineering marvel as some of the others, but it is just as awe-inspiring IMHO.

Bump.

EDIT: Here are my votes: Acropolis, Chichen Itza, Christ Redeemer, Easter Island Statues
Great Wall, Neuschwanstein Castle, Pyramids of Giza

You are wrong on every point. It's not "wonders of engineering" nor is it "of the modern world."

The Eiffel Tower was the 1st 1000 ft structure in the world, and do you know how much it took to drag several ton stone figures 10 miles across rugged terrain when you're hardly more advanced then cavemen? Is stonehenge not a "wonder" then?
