Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Brewster's Millions, Funny Farm, Spaceballs, Tommy Boy, Austin Powers, Night at the Roxbury, National Lampoon's European Vacation and Christmas Vacation, Happy Gilmore, and Road Trip are some examples of good comedies.

Yes, they are. Along with Blazing Saddles, Monty Python flicks, Office Space, Harold and Kumar, Napolean Dynamite, etc.

I fail to see why people have such a vested interest in making it so widely known that they either don't like a movie. People have different tastes. Some people found it funny - funny enough to purchase and wear movie paraphenalia. You didn't. Congratulations. Have a :cookie: and a "I dislike a particluar pop-culture hit!" tshirt and get the fvck over yourself. Gosh! :)
Agree with most of that, but Harold & Kumar was possibly the worst movie ever recorded on film. And I bought the dvd because ATOT'ers were raving over it. :(

yeh, and some people think Dumb and Dumber was totally a waste too.

different strokes. . .

I think they were both pretty damn stupid and mostly un-funny.

I know! I mean, rag-tag bunch of college friends pour their hearts and souls into a low-budget comedy film and it is widely accepted and honored by their peers, making them all rich and famous in the process? That's nothing like what America should be about!

Ironically, being anti-pop-culture is just as common as loving pop culture nowadays. Emo anyone? When you compare the two, I think loving pop culture is the lesser of two evils.

Thank you, that is all.
i find that people who don't like the movie had it hit a little too close to home.
Disagree. You need a weird sense of humor to like it. Or at least be able to appreciate a weird sense of humor. I liked it, I own the dvd, but I can see people not liking it even if they don't relate to it.
we can agree to disagree, but all you need is a sense of humor to like it.

Not true. I like everything from dark comedies (American Psycho, Club Dreadd) to your usual run of the mill comedies (Supertroopers, Old School, Caddyshack, etc) to your slightly out their comedies (stuff that you find on Adult Swim). I did not enjoy Napoleon Dynamite one bit. It was just too dull and boring. The humor...what humor? It's a bunch of kids moping around with no emotion. The only slightly redeeming part was Napoleon's dance.

Waste of time for me and other's will (and have) agreed. You don't need to flame people because they have a different opinion of a movie you happen to find merit in.

Napoleon Dynamite: Stay home and eat all the freakin' chips, Kip.
Kip: Napoleon, don't be jealous that I've been chatting online with babes all day. Besides, we both know that I'm training to be a cage fighter.
Napoleon Dynamite: Since when, Kip? You have the worst reflexes of all time.
Kip: Try and hit me, Napoleon.
Napoleon Dynamite: What?
Kip: I said come down here and see what happens if you try and hit me.

Uncle Rico: Back in '82, I used to be able to throw a pigskin a quarter mile.
Kip: Are you serious?
Uncle Rico: I'm dead serious.

Pedro: Do you think people will vote for me?
Napoleon: Heck yes! I'd vote for you.
Pedro: Like what are my skills?
Napoleon: Well, you have a sweet bike. And you're really good at hooking up with chicks. Plus you're like the only guy at school who has a mustache.

I have a very odd sense of humor and I really didn't like it.

The only funny part was when the uncle was complaining about his girlfriend dumping him. "She says I'm too hung up on 1982. If it were 1982 she wouldn't think that."

Otherwise, it's just a depressing documentary on the daily life of Idahoans (IIRC).
