machu picchu is overrated. its a bunch of rocks on a hill. and its humid. the only exciting part is the bus ride down the hill.

Surprised the Pyramid of Egypt is not one of the votes.

yeah me too..

If you looked at the sight carefully, the Pyramid is already "ancient" 7 wonders of the world :)

we are voting for the "new" ;)

lol, do u know history?

what, that the spainards passed right by it when they conquered the incas? and that some professor rediscovered it early last century but grossly embellished his story to make himself sound like indiana jones?

i have been there, you know...

I voted for:

Great Wall
Taj Mahal
Potala Palace
Hagia Sophia
Angkor Wat
Pyramids at Chichen Itza
Statues of Easter Island

I would have voted for the Great Pyramids over Chichen Itza had that been a choice.

what are the other six "ancient" wonders of the world?

The only other one I'm sure of is the Colossus

I think the Oracle at delphi may be one...?

I think there may have been a "great lighthouse" but that may just be from Civilization :D

Edit: I found a list of the wonders on that very page...Link

The pyramids are one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world.
How many times does this have to be said?

what about the hagia sofia in istanbul?

edit: haha never mind i saw it as an option

my votes:
great wall of china
taj mahal
hagia sophia
eiffel tower
statue of liberty
sydney opera house
golden gate bridge

i think the more modern ones should have more of an impact on people's decisions, especially statue of liberty, simply because of the effect its had on more people. Petra, Machu Picchu were just icons to a certain culture, but Statue of Liberty is kind of a world icon representing the 19th, 20th centuries immigration to the United States. (reminds me of the colossus in the old 7 wonders too)
