Hmmmm... Shocking, I know. I have tried everything and the only way I can get the DEMO to run ok is to turn off the CPU-based hardware T&L (otherwise known as Geometry assist) and jack up the z-buffer to 24 bit and all other color settings to 32 bit. With Hardware T&L I can hear it, but I can't see it. It closes the program completely when I try to benchmark. Not good!!!! I won't be getting my new Geforce 2 Pro for a week yet!!! Help me run this!

It's fun to see who says they don't like 3DMark and then look at their profile to see what video board their using. ;)

Its even more fun to see people considering buying new cards based on it.:p
Yea I have a V5 I ran it once it wasnt even fun to look at like the old one.
I think the people that dont like it see it for what it is.....a great way to make you think you need a GF3. It has to go down as a classic in advertising,it tells you your card is slow and so you must need a new one. Of course that means top of the line so run out and get a GF3,quick hurry! Coinsidence that it has hit the download circuit at the same time as GF3's hit the shelves, maybe?

I can see intrest in a new card if a game runs slow or has other problems but based on a benchmark program? ROFL.....Baaaaaa,Baaaaaaa,Baaaaaaa is what I hear as all the sheep run off to buy new cards. My main argument My V5 in 3D#2k real use settings, running great and looking great was around 3300,now adjust it so it looks like crap and I get 5005. So I should run all my games so they look like $!%^# to make 3D# happy...I think not. I'll be conserned about my 3D performance when my eyes and game performance tells me too. Not by some advertising tool that must have some outside funding since no one buys the silly thing and the company has yet to produce a game. Madonion ....yea you must be Mad in the mental sence or have onions for brains to be at all concerned about your 3D#2001 score.

Hey, if you haven't seen the new 3dmark in action, and not just the demo, but the actual game benchmarks, lay off. The high detail dragon flight one is amazing, and I only pulled some 7-22 fps on it (32bit, 800X, no FSAA) with a 900 tbird and a Geforce 2. It does show that T&L isn't ready for prime time though, a high polygon test with 8 lights pulled the system to it's knees. Amazing things are coming, and tech demos/benchmarks can be a fun way to see that.

3dmark doesn't say anything about your system. AdamK47 - 3DS: you even imply that 3dmark favors Nvidia, right?

richleader: by the time games look like 3dmark demos, you will have a video card 3-4 generations from today's.

I just tried to run the benchmark on my system and it gives me errors, and it won't run. I do have the latest released drivers for my Radeon.

Yes downloaded and ran it,uninstalled, deleted and then for good measure did the same for 2000. I have had enough of it ....time to move on and enjoy my system. I know it runs fine...scratch that.....it runs great. Maybe if I played UT or any of the super shootem up FPSOL games I would buy into it. I dont though IM more into Sims of all kinds where its more about getting a balance of fluid frames and eyecandy(IMHO). If I ever find myself turning off extras to get better FPS thats when stuff comes flying out of my PC's case. Until that happens I will be just fine.

Right on Tominator and Mykex! People on Crazy Onion are already saying they need to upgrade thier GF2's! All for the sake of a stupid 3DMark score, to hell with how well it plays a real game or sim.

Mykex,

They must have something, but I guess I will never figure it out! Don't really care too. You cooling that V5 with something other than the stock setup?

Yea I went with the whole silly as you can go route. Just before I took the CD apart to paint it I deemed myself insane and stopped.;) Its on the cheesy website in my sig. I should adjust "MYPC" cause I have toned down to 190 my(300watt? yea, right)power supply is getting questionable.:(
Case was 39$ on Sale at CompUSA when I got it. Bang for the buck though it has seen 3 boards back to SS7.:D

Mykex,

The setup looks good. I need to do something like that! I can push 183, on most games, with stock cooling, but after a while little sparkley's start appearing.

hyundai RAM?

I had a card with Tosbiba RAM

omfg, it sucked so hard I couldn't believe it.

3dfx should've gone with Hyundai across the board for their RAM, it's much better

Although 3dmark2k1 is fun to look at the first 2 times you run it the only thing it's good for is convincing you to buy new hardware. Everything looked great on my rig but ran so slow I got a headache.

And why won't my Geforce2 run the Pixel Shader and Nature test? Maybe I should buy a Geforce3 so I can run 3dmark correctly...
