Voodoo 5500 won't plug into new i850/Pentium 4 boards

Ouch, that cant help them out at all, not that it seems they are worrying too much about their cards anymore anyways.

that is a joke I hope.. there is a little plug that ships with all AGP Pro motherboards. Use that plug.. duhh. 🙂

Whats the hype all about? i850 is a chipset which supports both AGP 1.05 and AGP PRO cards, I am sure manufacturers will implement an AGP slot on future boards.
 
Plug? It seems that a plug would &quot;plug up&quot; or &quot;fill&quot; a hole. &quot;Plugs&quot; don't open up new holes 🙂

In this case, the Voodoo 5 doesn't have a notch to fit into a notch.

I don't follow...these boards use AGP Pro slots which aren't working on the Voodoo 5. I would assume that MOST i850 boards would ship with AGP Pro slots.
 
LOL...maybe it`s some sort of new IQ test for V5 owners with i850 boards.

You know, I don't think the AGP Pro spec is supposed to have that notch there. I might be wrong, but my Tyan Thunder 2500 which is also AGP Pro does _not_ have that extra notch there, but the AGP port is definitely much longer.
 
It is bad, but i am sure you will be able to find an i850 chipset board which will support AGP 1.0/2.1 standard, if Voodoo5 is that importaint to you.
 
That may be Vlad, but I wouldn't want a Voodoo 5 on a P4 board anyway...bring on NV20 and Rampage 🙂
 
Apparently it seems these motherboards only support AGP4X cards...granted that if you're shelling out the money for a P4, you'll probably be able to afford a GF2 or Radeon, but it seems kind of crummy that they're neglecting support for older video cards. After all, I plan to use this V3 for a while. 🙂
 
Let me just say that by the time we will be able to buy a P4 system for a reasonable price we will be debating on whether the NV20 is faster then the Rampage, like NFS4 said 😉
 
Look at this photo of the Tyan Thunder 2500, a board that supports AGP 2x Pro. It does _not_ have the slot, so I think Sohcan is absolutely right and the P4 boards for some reason only support AGP 4x.
 
There was absolutely no reason for the i850 chipset not to use a Universal AGP slot.

My A7V supports everything extra the i850 chipset does in the fact that it can use AGP Pro cards up to AGP Pro 150, but still remains compatible with everything.

Funny that Intel couldn't do that as well.

Ok, who was the crackhead over at Intel who made the AGP slots 1.5volts only!? I imagine that 3dfx isn't the only one with this problem right now.:|
 
Radoen and Geforce cards have two slots, older TNT's, and ATI Rage cards would be out, I think my Matrox G400 is out as well?

I can?t believe Intel would not use a universal PCB (like MSI did with their 694D), after all it is a 1.5v. I would think many would not buy the i850 because they can?t use a V5, rather then the other way around (just my guess).
 
Wow?you?re right it does (on my MAX anyway). So I guess the real questions is why didn?t 3dfx do the same? After all the G400 was out before the V5!

The G400 non-MAX also has 2 slots/keys (just check my girl friends comp).
