Voodoo 5500 backwards?

I just bought a 5500 off of the forums, but when I went to install it, I noticed that it will only go into the AGP slot when the front end is facing inside the case? There's not 2 slits in the part that goes into the AGP slot like on my Ti200. Anyone know why this is?

It isn't a PCI gfx card is it? You realise that even the top-of-the-range Vodoo card is pretty old and underpowered by today's standards don't you (even entry level cards)?

That's correct. New mobos support mostly 1.5v cards (Radeon, GeForce, etc.). The Voodoo 5 was, I believe, a 3.3v card. Unless you get and older mobo I don't think it will work. You should consider a newer card, or get a Voodoo 2 for Glide games. Sorry!

oh i see now... the voodoo5 is a 3.3v card. the p2b's agp slot is for 1.5v agp cards. wow... learned something new today 🙂

edit - btw... is there such a mobo that supports both 1.5v & 3.3v?

MOST motherboards are 3.3v/1.5v universal. However, the early P4 motherboards were ONLY 1.5v, which really only caused a problem with Voodoo5's, because it was the only recent card that wasn't 1.5v. So, assuming the computer you are putting it in is not an early P4 system, you should be fine. I am still running a Voodoo5....its getting old, sure, but I still love it 🙂
