voodoo 5 5500 $119 on pricewatch

Kinda depends on whether or no nvida wants to keep writing drivers. Probably not. You'd have a year or so at best.

Bad news is that the V5500 PCI doesn't work with the Radeon in Mutiple Monitors form 🙁

But that's ignoring three things - a.) a lot of people don't play their favorite games for just a short while, some are valid for years. And a lot of games run and/or look better on Voodoo cards, esp. sims and obv. anything written in Glide. b.) The V4/V5's have had support for DX8 built-in to at least the last two sets of drivers. Are there even any DX8 games out yet? c.) What video card is good (ie. the top dog) for more than a year now anyways? None. Thanks to nVidia, some are only on top for 6 mos.
 
I've been waiting on them to come down, that plus a SB Platinum should round out nice. Hope it gets here ok.

some guy i knew bought a retail box for like 180 yesterday and I was like are you stoned. He was like ...i want the games... WHY DONT YOU BURN THEM YOU FRIKEN IDIOT>...geez people....Anyway good post man. Great price I just sold one last week for 140 shipped. good thing whew 🙂
 
No, Staples won't pricematch (unless you get a totally clueless csr) a oem w/ retail product.

And about buying the VooDoo5 for the games. . . not the best idea. Burning the games instead . . . an even worse idea.
 
I've been tempted a couple times to buy this board for my girlfriend. I have the gladiac gts, but the 2d sucks compared to my old voodoo3.

why is burning the games bad? the fumes might be toxic?

the v5 is looking damn good with fsaax4 @ 800x600 on my 15&quot; in CS. Setting the maxframe to 40 will stop the frame difference [jumps from 40-70 in different places] I sometimes play q3 in which I use fsaax2 @ 800x600. This card is an excellent product if you want to experience true fsaa. If you just want pure fps, look elsewhere. I don't wanna here crap about a $120 v5 either. It definately beats any geforce2 card @ this price and don't give me crap about future driver support. Really, at $120, you must be a shysty bastard to want to keep this thing for more than 1.5 years.
 
My concern isn't the video card itself . . . we all know the pros and cons. The question is . . . will they actually ship a non-DOA product?? Look at their reseller rating/comments!
 
Bah, I tried pricematching Staples on a Voodoo5 2 weeks ago and they took my order. A day later they left a message on my machine stating that the product was no longer manufactured and they didn't carry it anymore. Funny thing is they still have it available on their website...
