Ok, my friend's got a v3 2000 and he's got some probs with it. Usually runs CS fine, but when a lag grenade (aka smoke grenade) gets thrown the FPS goes down to about 10 (from the usual 50-60 @ 800x600). Also, sometimes objects in the level turn white (any objects). We tried re-installin CS, but no go. Any ideas guys? Thx :D

I had similar problems with old beta drivers about 6 months ago. Try the most recent WHQL drivers from 3dfx or the newer beta's prom x3dfx(ive had no problem with em and their faster)

Yes, make sure you are running 3dfx's newest 1.07.00 WHQL drivers for the Voodoo 3. If you don't know where to get them from, do a search in this forum.

Hi I am Maverick's friend, I asked him to talk for me because the forums wouldnt let me sign up. I already had the newest drivers downloaded, and the problem still tends to happen.

i have the card, are you running opengl for voodoo in cs??

in d3d i do notice polygon breakup...simply because it cant handle more polygons....this mostly in the huge open maps.

also, you can turn on all those faster sprites options, it can take it pretty well.

Have you tweaked your card with the driver control panel tweaks? Make sure triple-buffering is turned off in whatever API you are using for the game.

I used to use Wicked GL and it was great, but for some reason I cant use it now, I just recently formated heh. For some reason It cant find one of those dll files that correspond with OpenGL. Maybe reinstalling would work but Im not sure. Maverick2002 said that Voodoo3s arent true AGP cards and that OpenGL was a waste to use in CS and that I should use umm.. D3D. I will try the faster sprites, and I have reduced my resolution, but I really hate doing that ccuz I have to play at 800x600 ugh.

ahh...this is a common problem.

Use the latest wickedGL, but with the latest version of CS, there is an "issue" with the install. It looks in the wrong place for the files it needs to run WGL.

I can't remember for the LIFE of me which file needs to be renamed or what, so just do a search and I'm sure you'll find it. It's been addressed here several times.

I had the same problem. You have to move the .dll file to the HL root directory I believe. I am at work and I will check it when I get home.

Ok, I believe it should be in the /halflife/drv folder. I may be a little off, but that is roughly where it is. Then just copy and paste it into the /halflife directory. That worked for me. Hope this helps
