I normally don't piss and moan about one video card being better or worse than any other, but after buying a voodoo 4500 for an extra puter, I'm really amazed. I have Nvidia cards in 5 machines throughout my family, and I've been pleased with the results of each. I just installed a Voodoo 4500 on a machine with a P3600E oc'ed to 800 and the 2d quality is absolutely amazing, much more crisp and clear than any of my Nvidia cards (TNT2Ultra, Geforce SDR, Several Geforce 2 32meggers). I'm not trying to start a war, after all I really haven't noticed much difference at all in 3d stuff, and I haven't touched a bench mark. I'm just amazed that I never really noticed the lack of 2d quality that Nividia cards have (for me at least), until seeing first hand what quality 2d output looks like.

I had a Voodoo3 2000, and I agree with you, The Voodoo's have outstanding 2D quality. Some time ago, on a video ng, this was a topic of discussion. I recall some people saying they had a Matrox G400 and they thought Voodoo was even better. I was able to get a Voodoo4 at the Office depot clearance for $80 so I grabbed one to replace my Voodoo3 2000. I was truly amazed that the 2D quality was even better. They are not the faster in 3D, but they sure are easy on the eyes when doing 2D work. Still, the 3D power is OK for the occasional game player.

Adam, I have to agree with KnightBreed. I will even go a step further.

1) Posting someone's private message is wrong. Plus, he didn't call you names in that message and it was actually kinda funny.

2) You saying that you want to hit him in the head with a brick is much more offensive.

3) The 2nd comment of his that you posted (which I am assuming was also a private message) was only in response to your brick in the head statement. What he said in the 2nd comment seems to back up 1) and 2). I think it was a reasonable response considering the brick in the head statement you made.

4) I have seen you make pretty silly comments about other cards yourself, and take cheap shots before.

5) You claim to be the adult here but you come whining to all of us about his comments? Hmmmmmm.

Don't get me wrong. DominoBoy can be ....... less than polite sometimes. I have even had a few arguments with him myself. Whenever he was wrong though, he always apologized. That's more than I can say about many people around here. I find many of his comments (although sometimes very blunt) to be entertaining and refreshing. He is downright funny sometimes.

EDIT- Adam, I want to make it clear that I am not attacking you. I just don't think that Domino deserved the brick in the head comment, or to have his private messages shown to everyone. Lighten up.
 
Ok I didn't want it to resort to this...haha. I was only complimenting a card I had no previous experience with. I'm still impressed....


 
i agree! i am a new NVidia user and i am trying to find out who knows about removing the filter circuitry on the nvidia cards to improve the 2d quality... anyone??
