Just seeing if anyone recognizes these symptoms...really nothing other than described in the title (plus fatigue from a long night). Even though I stopped attempting to eat around 11pm last night I was up just about every hour puking my brains out. Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like food poisoning or the stomach flu. I'm no doctor though but I have had similar things happen to me like that before and it has always been one or the other.

For me at least food poisoning usually lasts about 24 hours and the stomach flu can last 3-4 days. Sipping liquids seems to be the only way to keep anything down (for me at least).

Cool, yeah it's probably food poisoning as I don't have a fever or anything...basically just the vomiting/diarrhea. Any recommendation for a liquid other than water? I read I need to try to replenish minerals too.

Food Poisoning. Try some tums or Ammonium AD. Not sure on the water, Gatorade might be bad with all the sugar, I don't know.

Drink some gatorade if you can stomach it.

Stomach Flu. I had identical symptoms a couple of months ago, lasted for ~4 days for me (vomiting was over by the end of the 2nd). Just drink Gatorade slowly, as in sip it. Otherwise you'll just throw it back up again. Start eating small amounts of solid food when you think you can handle it.

Gatorade does wonders. Keeps your electrolytes from being depleted and your body from being dehydrated.

Wish I had gone the Gatorade route. Mine lasted 4 days as well, but I was so tired of vomiting that I actually stopped drinking water for a period of time. Not recommended mind you, but it just wasn't staying down. It wasn't constant vomiting for me, but constant diarrhea. I remember one morning I woke thinking it would be the day I'd go back to work, hopped in the shower, hopped back out and had vomited and had diarrhea within 5 minutes of each other. Ugh that was awful.

There's no such thing as "the stomach flu."

Thanks for the post, I can't remember the last time I felt this bad. Puking is one of my least favorite things and I'm ready for it to be over. I just bought 4 32oz bottles of gatorade and some chicken noodle soup (which I read I should wait until I'm done vomiting on the hour). At least Seinfeld is still good through the torment.

NP. Also, another snag I ran into: Don't trust anything that feels like a fart if you end up drinking Gatorade exclusively for a few hours. For me, got to the point where my shits were entirely liquid. So what felt like a standard fart ended up as me shitting (if you can call it that) my pants. Not pleasant.

Heh, yeah my BMs have been basically water since last night..I'm in the bathroom at least twice an hour doing one or the other.

Right, and it's not caused by one of the flu viruses. Just because it is in common use doesn't make it right.

Who cares? If you want to be that picky, the next time I see someone with cold-sores I'll ask if they're infected by Herpes Simplex 1 as opposed to just asking if they have a cold.

Ugh, 27 hours now of vomiting and it's getting more miserable with every trip...where's the light at the end? I feel like all the Gatorade I'm trying to consume just keeps coming back up.

Just correcting a common misconception. Lighten up.

Consider going to a doctor. You need to be rehydrated, and they have meds they can give you for nausea.

No you're not. "Stomach flu" or "Gastro flu" are common terms in use that are used to describe Gastroenteritis. These terms have been used for years and years and years.

Ok, so saying something for "years and years and years" makes it correct...

Great logic.

Man sounds bad. Hope you feel better fast, I hate feeling sick; nothing like it.

I've never done gatorade, mom usually had me on Sprite or Ginger-Ale, take your pick. Un-colored, and of course no caffeine is important. These are good (better than gatorade? I don't know) because they are more acidic and thus match your stomach PH better. Less upsetting etc.

Of course be sure to sip, and only sip, just a little. See if you can keep it down, and sip again every 15-30 minutes.
If you're able to keep that down for a while then Saltene crackers are a good simple food to start back on. Chicken noodle-> protein might be rough, I don't know.

Might try calling your doctors office and seeing if you can talk to a nurse there and see what she recommends; she'd know better too. She might just have you come in and give you some suppositories so you can keep down some fluids at least.

Hope you feel better.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the advice...finally made it through the rough and stopped vomiting on Wednesday. I'm just about back to full strength now and almost ready to get back to normal eating. I'd never experienced anything like that before and hope to avoid so in the future.
