Voltage problem?

Hello,

I was looking through asus probe because my system speaker was continually beeping. I saw that my +3.3V was at 3.6V. Is this cause for worry, and it would be the reason my system speaker beeps constantly?

Rest of my system:

WINXP home
P4 2.53
ASUS P4PE
Radeon 9700 pro
1 GB kingston 2700
350W fortron PSU

Try MBM5. I see a lot of false readings on ASUS probe.

I get about the same voltage with the MB5. In fact, i'm off by 5% or more on all of voltages according to this.

No, the system is running fine for the most part. I've had this system and this PSU for almost two years.

Can you test the PSU with a multimeter? Maybe the boards readings are off.

If you haven't had any stability problems for freaking 2 years, I'd test it with a MM just to be sure your MB isn't giving you any BS. You aren't experiencing any unexplained power offs or freeze-ups, are you?

If you're worried about it, you can pick up a new PSU. Fortron is a great brand, though. Right up there with Antec and Enermax.

I don't have access to a multimeter, but I could get one I guess.

I'm not experiencing any power offs or freeze ups either. I'm not really worried about it, but, I don't know why all of the sudden my system speaker would start beeping like this. I know I can just unplug it, but I would rather figure out the problem.

I'd pick up a MM if I were you. Those are very handy when it comes to situations like these. If it gives you the same readings, THEN you need to worry.

what are your readings through MBM5 exactly?

Here are all the readings:

Core 0 at 1.55 average
Core 1 at 1.55 average
+3.3 at 3.63 average
+5.0 at 5.0 average
+12.0 at 11.07 average
-12.0 at -11.55 average
-5.0 at -4.84 average

How do those readings look?

Should I be concerned about keeping the system on? Or only if I start getting crashes etc?

Those levels do seem a bit strange, the 12V is way too low and the 3.3 is probably getting on the too high side...

I'd be worried about running the system with voltages that low. Assuming the readings are accurate it could potentially damage HD and other system components. I'd leave it off until you find a way to measure it accuratley. Its strange that some are high and some are low.

I'm going to get a multimeter later today.

One thing I forgot to mention, the last few weeks it has seemed to take a long time to boot to the login screen. After the windows screen with the scrolling bar, the screen just goes black for 5-10 minutes sometimes and then goes to the login screen. The last few times i've tried to start up I waited 30 minutes for it to get to the login screen and it never did. It boots to safemode fine(i'm currently in safemode). I should also point out that it doesn't do this on ever reboot or cold boot, it's pretty inconsist. I would say it happens more often than not though.

Could this be caused by the voltage problems, or would you say this is a seperate issue?

Ok, I tested the voltages with the multimeter. Here's what I got:

+3.3V at 3.7
+5V at 5.11
+12V at 11.63
-5V at 4.98
-12V at 12.17

What do you guys think of those voltages?

Sorry to bump, but, does anybody have an opinion on the voltage readings I got, and if I should get a new power supply or not?

12V seems kind of low. 11.4 is the lowest that rail can go before ur comp starts hurting.
