voltage on a duron question.

The default on mine is 1.6

while installing win 98se the temp is around 39C.. according to the mobo.... thingy.... Is there any reason I can't lower the voltage down to help it stay cooler?? I've tried it and it seems to run just fine at a lower voltage and it does cool it down a little not to much though.

If it runs fine at a lower voltage, run it that way. 39 C. seems a bit much if you're running your Duron at it's default speed.. What kind of heatsink and fan do you have? If you plan on overclocking it soon, you'll definitely need to get a new heatsink and fan.

it's a vantec socket cooler..... got this really cheap... and its' a bit bigger then the original so I decided to give it a whirl..... There are no other fans in the case as of right now either.. but that will change tomorrow a little bit. using the heatsink goop they sent with it..... should have just gone with the bigger and better one.....

according to MBM 5 my duron 700@900 is running at 52C seems REALLY hot to me. I have it at 1.7v
it was running at 45C default..
