40 miles? really? they couldn't make it 60? I guess I have to move closer to work 🙂
40 on initial battery charge alone. Car keeps on chugging after that due to the small 4-cylinder gas motor.Originally posted by: PingSpike
The "up to" in up to 40 miles all electric range does not have me excited. Still better then any other offerings on the market in that respect though.

That's EPA rating and we all know that EPA rating isn't worth shit. The five-door four-seater will be capable of up to 100mph (160km/h) top speed and can cover 40hmi (64km) of the EPA?s city cycle on electric power alone

That 40 miles is going to depend on the type of commute you have. How much of it is city driving, how much is highway, type of terrain (hills?). All these things are going to effect how many miles you'll get out of the batteries.
My guess is that they will last anywhere between 30-50 miles. Which will be good or bad to some.

It's not an exciting-looking car, but it's better overall than the upcoming Insight. At more than double the expected price of the Insight, though, I'm not sure this would be a smart buy. People complain about the economics of hybrids, so this would be an even tougher sell.

The EPA cycles are still estimates, but I don't have any trouble beating their revised ratings in my car. If you drive smart, the EPA numbers are actually low now.
