Volcano7 thermal "mod" question

Has anyone taken off the thermal thingy and connected the wires on the Vol7?
If so, How did you connect them and was it worth it in terms of temps and/or noise levels

thanks

My understanding is that you just cut the probe off and twist or solder the wires together. I moved mine by putting it down inside the heat sink. You can easily put it between the tines of the heat sink. It raises the rpm by about 500-1000 rpm. The noise increases as well. Can't really say how much.

Here's something for you, just take that 80mm Smart Fan off and replace it with a regular 80mm 2900RPM fan. I did that (couldn't take the noise) and temps barely changed. Maybe +0.5ºC at the most. Now my case is dead quiet and you see how much higher RPM fans aren't needed for how good that heatsink design is.
