My fiancee's boss is stuck in Switzerland because of this. Oh well, more overtime for her. 😀

time for
titanic II

Actually they will have a cruise in 2012, ironicly, in memory of the Titanic. Would be interesting to actually go on there but the tickets are thousands, and almost all sold out already!

One of my previous coworkers when I worked at helpdesk went to vacation in India recently and he's also being delayed because of a volcano. I don't think it's the same one though, just a coincidence. He might actually be back already, I'm not sure.

Still crazy how far the ashes spread out though. 😱

My boss and half my team are stuck in Germany.. Might be a fun few months. 😛

Actually think most people just have to take the positive side of this. Basically a free vacation lol. I'm sure people wont get fired because they physically can't get back to work, may as well enjoy it lol.

My father is stuck in Germany. Has to take a rental and drive 1000+ miles and then take a ferry. Mean while, my parents had bought tickets to this fancy ball and so that the tickets wouldnt go to waste, I had to rent a tuxedo and be my mothers date, escort, whatever....

what's the likelihood that we end up having a cold spring/summer because of this?

Depends on the actual volume of ash released. For example the last eruption that probably had any significant effect was the Mt Pinatubo eruption in 1991. That lifted 10 billion tonnes of ash into the atmosphere and made for cooler weather that year world wide. I don't think this eruption is anywhere near that big.
