Volcano 11

I bought one for my slightly OC'd 2500XP@2800XP. The temps when doing nothing are 41-42 degrees and 49 when playing for a long time in Unreal II. The MB temps are 30 and 32 in the order above.

What do you think about Volcano 11? I use the thermal paste that came with it and it's running at 4300RPM. Thanks.

That is way too loud for me. I have a Volcano 9 and the most I can tolerate is 2600 rpms and it still loud to me, but of course I got my machine right next to me monitor on my desk. My temps are very similar to yours, but I don't overclock for noise reasons even though my xp 2600+ can hit 2300 Mhz easily.

But I guess that if you don't mind noise then your are cool!

hehe. Well, @4300Rpm it isn't very noisy. I think it's the most balanced noise/performance ratio with this cooler.

Thanks for your inputs. Anyone else?

" shady06 "volcano 11 just like any other thermaltake HSF is CRAP. but those temps are nothing to be concerned about

I dont agree with that AT ALL. I have a Thermaltake V9 and i lapped the copper core to a mirror finish with a creme polisher and i run a XP 1700+ @ 12 x 200 @ 38º ( thats pretty good to me ) or my 2400+ @ 21 x 190 @ 36º and thats the fan only turned up 1 quarter or 2800 rpms it could perform MUCH better than that.

ok, maybe i was a bit rough on thermaltake. i was NEVER impressed by their products. but all things considered, the slk800 is in the same price range and performs better than the volcano 11

edit: according to this review, the $10 x-dream found at frys performs better

Hey wiseguy, if you used "creme polisher" you didn't really lap your heatsink, you just made it shiny. Way to waste 5 bucks. :disgust:

hey wise guy the creme polisher was just to finish i lapped the core with a sanding block but in order to get the best finish its better to polish with an copper & aluminium polisher 😉 after sanding
