Volari info?

From everything i have read it could be a dud. Im gonna wait till i see a review or two and the prices. I was hopeing that someone had seen one.

nothing will ever come out of it, either it will be like teh XP4 or it will just be so late that you can get a 9800 for the same price, driver support will suck, and i doubt you will see the dual chip config version. In other words, Matrox, nVidia, and ati are your friends

Even though I think the Volari will ultimately be a dissapointment (either in performance and/or stability/drivers) but I'd still like to see what it could do. It's like a new design for a sword that can slice and dice but never had a chance to get sharpened properly.

I think just having a serious 3rd player in the 3D market is exciting. Even if it turns out to be somewhat of a dissapointment, it will be still be interesting to see how it pans-out.

Use to be we had 3dfx, nVidia, Ati, S3, Matrox, ect., all at one time after the 3D crown.

I think SiS/XGI is getting there.. they have lots of money in their pocket for R&D. They make a lot of money on their cheaper motherboards used for OEM.

They can have a really good product, but timing is the most crucial factor here, and frankly I've seen too many promising technologies that just disappeared into the background without ever seeing the light of day, due to slow time to market. I'm not hopeful about XGI either, even if they do have working samples and tons of OEM partners right now. I'll believe it when I can find it on the shelf of a computer shop, and I do wish that will happen soon.
