I wouldn't hold out any hope that new drivers will improve performance. Besides, the fact that the performance was still so horrible with cheating drivers should tell you something.
 
Ok men/women...let's not get too down on ANY company TRYING to produce new PC products EVEN if they don't succeed right away. After all...competition is GOOD for us all (i.e., it may bring down the cost of some other good products).

 
I agree with Budarow and Naruto, give them time. Remember Nvidia's first chips? IIRC they were horrible, but look at what they did to the (then) market leader 3Dfx. I'd give them a couple more generations to get on track. At least they actually released something.

Keep 1 other thought in mind...nVidia may NEVER had made if BIG if they didn't "borrow" some technology from S3 and 3dfx (i.e., they lost 2 patent law suites to S3 and 3dfx related to the TNT1 and/or TNT2 line of chips) and "borrow" some employees from Matrox. Since it appears the company making the Volari cards is based on China...they may soon be "borrowing" some technology from ATI and/or nVidia (i.e., try sueing a company in China...LOL).

By the way...I don't condone the theft of technology, but it happens (especially since I lost ~$5k on 3dfx stock).
 
I think some of you guys are looking at only the hyped product and missing the point entirely. If we forget the Duo cards exist, what we are left with are the single chip solutions and for the prices they will be selling it, it looks like the Radeon 9000->9200 range will be put to rest, and should give nvidia/ATI a bit of a run in the R9600 performance area. The 2nd GPU on the duo cards is only really boosting the scores by something like 30%.

The Duo cards are just an effort to have a product which they can say competes with the big boys, but I think they know it will not be a best seller or their flagship product for very long. After all, the mainstream is where the real chunk of the money is made and that fact is demonstrated very well by the fact that Intel are the leading force and all they have are low-speed integrated chipsets.

I know the prices are changed now but just the fact that Tom's says that 449$ is "rather inexpensive" just again goes to show what an out of touch bafoon he is.

parhelia 2 is coming out 😛 , hope it does kill all the competition, cuz sharp 2d images and 16x frag AA rulez, and matrox surround gaming 😛. Matrox is the inventor of many 3d technologies, think it was first to make dual head 😛 and evbm =)
