Volari Duo CHEATING!!!!

This is incredible, awful performance while cheating!! See it yourself here. And no, this is not 3dMark..... it's a real game.

Here's my "Super quick save you all that reading" review:

Peforms about same level as a FX5600, in majority of tests, but with driver "optimisations", which reduce the image quality akin to the scenes being drawn by a quadraplegic 5 year old.
Turn the optimisations off, and you get a frame rate akin to the scenes being drawn by a quadraplegic 5 year old.

Confused

This doesn't surprise me at all because the sis xabre was also reducing image quality for extra performance and xgi are sis.

Perhaps with some driver work they can get Halo performance improved from 6fps to 8fps. Once that occurs, I'm sure they'll sell a ton of these at the $500 price point.

I will say it again...

I sure bet Nvidia & ATI are shaking in there boots about now... ha, ha, ha...

Why is it others have such a hard time keeping up? XGI card is not even much of a bang for current games today, same issue with Matrox.

I'm hoping Matrox pulls something out of no-where for there next card or even S3 to come up with something good (not even asking for great, just good).

Does anyone have a S3 roadmap?

Wonder if since Diamondmm is back, if they'll again use S3 as well (if they come up with a good chip), they already have ATI & Nvidia cards.

Thats just sad. That card should not have even been released. The hacks look even worse than ati's cheats before.

lol, by cheats are you refering to those 4 textues in quake3 that were messed up on the first set of drivers for the 8500?

Thats just sad. That card should not have even been released... agreed'

The hacks look even worse than Nvidia's and/or ATI's cheats before!😀

I don't see either as cheats, just giving less to get more at any or all cost. I try to find the card that has the best quality graphics, then the fastest... like the old saying, shooting yourself in the foot.

Its not worth another ATI ver Nvidia cheating word battle. Both companies did whatever it was they did, each said what they said, and now they are what they are. Nvidia people feel ATI cheated, Nvidia just optimized drivers, ATI people feel Nvidia Cheated, ATI just optimized drivers...

It's called application detection. They shouldn't be worrying about detecting applications, but how to handle everything the application throws at it. I'll bet that the engineering job probably sucked, and they now have to do something to make it worth while.

What a bigfatpileofcraptaculargarbage.

nVidia and ATI will continue to duke it out in the Super Bowl of graphics cards, while XGI will get owned by S3 in the Toilet Bowl.

Where are all the nvidiots who should be defending XGI.

You know those people that said they would much rather have the speed than image quality.

As you sow so shall you reap.

Seems kind of a fitting phrase right now.

heh, isnt 3dfx/s3/sis known for having really bad image quality compared to nvidia/ati? thats how they get fps, increase the pipelines, and you got more fps. and didnt nvidia do this same thing with a set of drivers before? to make their cards look faster compared to ati. in this case, its much much worse.
