I'm just sitting here, minding my own business... and I got to thinking... What would happen, if i were to plug a dialup modem into my VOIP box that is hooked up to cable internet, and use the dialup service to connect to the internet?
What kind of connection would I have? Obviously 56K if the modem was that, but I mean - you wouldn't have to worry about crappy phone lines being an issue... I wonder if the download speeds would be any good...
Clearly I don't have a modem laying around or I would try this... But does anyone know what it would be like?
It'd be like having the internet coming through the internet... 😀 weird!!
Maybe it wouldn't work at all... but it should... argh!!
*There actually is a legit reason for asking this... I fix a lot of computers at my house, and a lot of people don't have network cards in older machines and still use dialup... so if I wanted to test their modem, or whatever...
