Voice-Activated MP3 Stereo System?

EyeOfThe

Senior member
I know this guy who's blind. I was tellin him it would be cool to put his music collection into MP3 format and have a voice-activated MP3 stereo system.

Is this doable? Is there a product out there that does this? or what would I need to build one? and what software?

Thanks

No I hadn't seen that. It looks good but its from 3/1/2000 so there has got to be an even better way to do it by now I would think?

probably... maybe you can e-mail the author of that original article and ask him for suggestions? The guy seems very competent. I don't know anything about Linux, and the software mentioned in there is all freeware (I suppose)... as for Windows, there must be similar programs, but who knows how expensive they are. Of course, you can go warez (thinking that, after all, who would know, right?)

Wouldn't work too well for me... I'd have a hard time yelling over the music =) And it might hear a lyric in the song and change to the next track, lol.

I have a friend who is a quadraped (lives in a wheel chair that he drives with a straw), anyway he uses software called Dragon Naturally Speaking. IT works really well, you have to train it to recognise your voice, but it uses macros do do stuff, he can lay in a bed and type, navigate internet and make phone calls from his PC, he also uses it to control his MP3's. because it uses macros you can program it to do what ever you want.

It;s designed for a busness enviroment and already has lots of preprogramed commands.

It works awesome but you really need a good mike to use it.

I borrowed it one time to try to be a lazy as possible, but the cheapo chat mic I had sucked.
