VMWare 5 for free

VMWare is holding workshops in June between the 14th and 16th. It includes a breakfast, some presentations, a demo and some other stuff you can probably ignore whilst playing games on your PDA/PSP/GBA/whatever.

The cool thing is you get a free copy of VMWare Workstation 5 for attending.

But wait, it gets better! If you can't/don't want to attend, get someone else to go and put your email down as a referral. You'll both get a free copy of VMWare.

Technically, you could get 2 free licensed copies (normally $189 apiece) of the software out of this. Simply refer yourself by entering another email in the referral section and on the registration form at the workshop.

Man I'd love to go to the DC session but it's on a wednesday. I can't take a whole day off from work for this.

the agenda appears to only go from 8:30 to noon. Is there an afternoon part also?

Ooo, theres one in Raleigh, I might go, but I think it would seem odd for a 20 year old (I don't look 20 BTW, darn youth) to go.

that name induces all kinds or letter rearrangemnt every time I read it..I read it as s*x server editions.

I used their 3.x version and it wasn't bad. Too bad there are no Tallahassee stops 🙁

Times like this I'm glad I'm a 1:30pm-10pm engineer

I'm in for the Boston session, AND it counts as professional development for my job 😀

Oh, yea, like someone's gonna put in a complete stranger, like me at trevinom at yahoo dot com, just by asking.

But good luck anyways 🙂

I'm in at the Houston locaction. Balex99 (Hollywood), put you down as my referal, enjoy. You can thank me and buy me Smirnoff later 😉

Before we all get toooo excited... there are a few important facts missing.

Specficially, looking at the email and registration form, it's fairly clear that VMware can weed out self-referrals, and bogus referrals.

(A) Only the email to VMware customers made the referral offer. So they have a list of qualified "referrers". If you're not on that list, I don't see the referral offer being made anywhere else.

(B) Says "refer A friend" -- refer two, I think someone's out of luck...

(C) Every seminar I've been to cross-checks attendees and registrations. So probably harder to game the system than it's worth.

So I figure I can go to the seminar, maybe learn something -- or buy my copy at work off a corporate expense budget anyway, not like it's coming out of MY pocket...
