I am deciding which way to set up a MacBook 13inch 2.4gig with VMfusion or boot camp.
I figure the vm is going to make window take a %30 performance hit but will allow file drag and drops. So, do you think this machine is enough for vista Ult, or should I run xp pro.

Btw, im only really using these 'windoze' environment to run an occasional W.o.W. game. I'm a apple newb, but love using the os for general computing.

I believe WoW is playable on OS X, so you wouldn't need to use parallels and take the performance hit from virtualization.

For games I wouldn't use a virtual machine. But as others have noted, they do make some games for Macs. ;)

If you already have WoW, I'd install a Bootcamp partition rather than using a virtual machine. Gaming will benefit from the performance boost, even if WoW is old. Pick up 64-bit Windows Vista Premium or Business. It's not "officially" compatible with the vanilla Macbooks but it works just fine. Bootcamp's wizard just refuses to install the drivers so you have to install them manually. I use Vista mostly for gaming and media transcoding. Not much else. Most of my day to day tasks are done in OSX so I really have a need for the drag and drop function of VMFusion. OS X does read NTFS drives so your Vista partition shows up on your Mac desktop. It just can't write to NTFS but you can still copy files from Vista. The problem is the other way around but that's why man invented USB sticks and external hard drives.

You do realize that VMWare Fusion can access your Bootcamp partition and virtualize it, right?

So you just setup bootcamp, and then use VMWare. If you want to go into Windows natively, you still can. This isn't an either or situation :)

If you're only using Windows to play WoW, just run it under OSX?
VMWare fusion will support Vista Ultimate, but no Aero.
