Who's Kanye West?

Ironically on the radio this morning that both 50 and Kanye were releasing a CD today... the jock mention about 50's promise if Kanye outsold him. Then the jock also mention something about Kenny Chesney releasing a CD today too, and laughed cause it will probably outsell both of them. (This wasn't a country station, it was a Top 40 station, and no, I'm not a country fan)

It was "George Bush doesn't care about black people". I don't really get why him being a black guy factors into you thinking he's a piece of trash. Oh wait.. LSU. Makes sense.

wow, talk about judgmental, hmmm, because I'm from the south I must be a racist...lol, look in the mirror for once.

He is black trash because of what he said. Him being black has nothing more to do other than his statement stems from being a black. BTW, where are you from, so everyone can stereotype you too?

I'm from Houston. I was making a point. A lot of the posts in this thread are just plain racist. If he was Justin Timberlake you wouldn't see any ridiculous comments about him being a wannabe gangsta, or him killing 50 cent. That's what real racism is-- not trivial crap like "the N word".

I was wondering how long it would be before someone came along and dropped the most misused term on ATOT. Yes, the "R" word. Racism...everyone's heard of it but apparently nobody knows what the fuck it means. Did it ever occur to you that just maybe someone might have said those things because both artists are rappers and not because they are black?

BTW-I wouldn't care if Justin Timberlake kills 50 cent either. Or if Justin Timberlake kills himself for that matter. Also, I happen to agree with some of the things Kanye West has spoken out about publicly.

Get out of the Whine business Kanye!!

These tantrums he goes through are kinda funny though. I wonder if all his agents and handlers offer him candy or sour grapes to calm him down?

The most overused term is "race card". People are afraid to point out racism for fear of being accused of playing the "race card".

I don't really get how you could think Kanye is a gangster because he's a rapper. He's not a gangster rapper. If you can't tell the difference, you're ignorant about American culture and music, and need to keep your mouth shut anyway.

I checked out Kanye and, you're right, he's not a gangster rapper so I take that back. Race had nothing to do with my comments though. An assumption about rappers in general did.

BTW-Not knowing much about rap music and rap musicians doesn't make me ignorant about American culture you moron.

Music is a significant part of American culture.

If you don't know much about rap music and rap musicians, why are you making generalizations about them being wannabe gangsters in the first place?

I kinda think he's getting screwed too, I'm not a rap fanboy in any way, but I thought the combination of Daft Punk with Kanye's lyrics was a great innovation, like the Linkin Park Jay-Z mixes of a few years back.

While he is a cry baby, I think he deserves a bit more credit than what he's got.

From his new album, pasted from a lyrics site:

and i'm back to tear it up
haters, start your engines
I hear 'em gearin' up
people talk so much shit about me at barbershops
they forget to get their haircut
okay fair enough, the streets is flarin' up
cause they want gun-talk, or I don't wear enough
baggy clothes, Reebok's, or A-di-dos
can I add that he do spaz out at his shows
so say goodbye to the NAACP award
goodbye to the In-di-a Arie award
they'd rather give me the awesome dude-please award
but I'll just take the I-got-alotta-cheese award

Music is a part of American culture. Significant part of it as a whole? That's debatable. Rap music is just a small part of that though. I happen to know quite a bit about music and the history of music.

Rap music originated in the inner cities and largely revolves/revolved around gangsters so to assume certain things about rappers based on the music isn't that far off base. I was right about one of the two rappers I commented on though. Besides, I withdrew the comment so STFU.

So deep, thoughtful, and insightful Shakespeare pales in comparison.

MTV caters to and awards overprivileged asshats, so I'm not remotely surprised by how these idiots act.

I've already committed to buying 10 copies of Graduation just so I never have to hear another 50 Cent album.

ATOT synopsis: Kanye is cocky so he should die.

BTW, Graduation is the best album I've heard in a really long time. Love him or hate him, you can't deny his talent.

He's indeed cocky, which personnally annoys the fsck out of me no matter who you are, but anyway, I don't think people were serious about wanting him to die. At least I hope not. ;)

I think more of the dislike comes from his "George Bush doesn't care about black people" idiocy and his most recent hissy fit here. He's straight up a fscking fool, IMO.

Excellent, good to see we can add MTV to the list of organizations/people/whatever that have a large, well-thought conspiracy against all black people.

It's crap like this that has made me officially stop caring about the plight of African Americans. They've overplayed their hand.

Well, in Kanye's defense, GWB really doesn't care about black people. :p
