vlc alternative for mkv files with several audio and subtitles tracks?

Title says all, anyone know of a good player that'll handle mkv files properly and let me switch between audio and subtitles tracks?
I've been using vlc for a long time but it's been having some problems with some mkvs where the image gets stuck and won't refresh, if anyone knows how to fix this I wouldn't need another player

You can try playing the mkv file with Windows Media Player Classic + CCCP Codec Pack. There are a few other ways to play mkv files stated here.

The KMPlayer can handle that. Only downside is there are so many menu options that you can get lost just trying to navigate and/or configure the player.
