VLAN Migration

I have a 7206X and 7609. I need to migrate vlans from 7206X to the 7609 in order to decommission the 7206X?

Not sure how to start and what steps to keep in mind so as to have a smooth transfer without any problems. Could anyone help?

Go through the configuration of your existing one and make note of what vlan's are in the database and what interfaces are on what vlan's as well as if they're trunk ports with tagging, access ports, etc and copy that over to the new one.

Although if your asking a question like that, it tells me your not familiar with setting up vlan's in a switch??

By 7206X, do you mean 7206VXR? If so, that's set up a bit differently than a 7609 (basically a 6500.)

Standard reply: hire a consultant.

Yeah, definitely need to copy down the full configuration of every port and then recreate it all on the new switch. There's really no magic bullet on this one, if you're not confident with the process I second the recommendation of hiring a consultant who knows what they're doing. Improperly configured vlans can take your whole network down, especially if VoIP phones are involved.
