I think windows XP is great too and still use it in a VM (since there are good legacy apps like CAD programs that aren't available in native linux).

I think it could well be Putin is also using it under a VM and just has it in full screen mode.

Or do you guys think Putin is clueless about compsec issues?

I doubt that is going to be connected to the internet or any public network anyway. Kinda like ATMs. The newer ones run windows 2000 or XP while older ones run OS/2 or something, but they are completely separate from the internet and use their own WAN.

Chances are that's practically a personal machine too, for official business government officials probably have a custom OS I would imagine and not something mainstream. NatoOS.

Moscow is gradually phasing out Microsoft and Google on government computers in favour of Russia’s Astra Linux operating system software and domestic browsers such as Yandex.

Ru-oh... how will US intelligence spy on Russia now?

To be fair, SP3 is a pretty solid OS...

Hey, the guys got a lot on his mind and doesn't want to move all his important stuff over to a new platform. When you're in the middle of invading the Ukraine you can't afford the time to call an IT guy to find where your launch codes are stored in a different O/S.
