holy shit, just saw this thread and remembered i bought a vizio smart tv for my bedroom in 2011. just went in and saw that smart interactivity was enabled on my tv. i immediately disabled it and blocked the tv's MAC on my firewall. i feel so violated right about now.

EDIT: Is Sony doing this as well? I think that 55" XBR TV is a few years old now.

Non-personal identifiable material is reported.

Kinda expect that. Turn it off, no big deal.

I understand that but when I bought this TV there was no eula that I had to accept. I just connected it to my WiFi and used some of the smart apps until I bought my roku a year ago.

This thing has been silently active for over 4 years without my knowledge. How many others that don't read forums would be aware of this. The msm dam sure won't report about this.

I have a Vizio smart TV. The Smart Interactivity function is turned off. And yet, when I get a Walmart ad, it has a section that shows the address of and prices at the Walmart store closest to my house. So, somebody is getting some info somehow, and using it to push their commercial stuff to me.

This is more than likely IP geo location.
