I would stay away from the Element. Picture quality on the LCDs blow. I would assume the quality on the Plasmas do as well. This is not to mention the build quality of these either. This is the cheapest quality crap Circuit City sells. This stuff is along the lines of the following cheap brands they used to sell: Apex, ESA, Jensen, Polaroid (which they still sell some of. The Element is just a rebadged Polaroid)

The Element is just a rebadged Polaroid.

Did not know that. Thanks for the information.

CNET reviews of the Vizio are basically positive. "The bottom line: The low-buck, high-value Vizio VP42HDTV deftly avoids most of the picture-quality pitfalls of inexpensive plasmas."

Anybody have any info on lowest prices for 32" QAM-equipped LCD or Plasma screens? Emphasis, QAM-equipped tuners? My Vista MCE uses HD Homerun for HDTV tuning (which does QAM) but if I ever used the LCD/Plasma that I'm about to buy on its' own (without being attached to the PC) I'd like for it to be able to pull ClearQAM on its' own.... anybody else put any thoughts into this?

Ticking 'subscribe' this time...

I tell you what I bought this Vizio plasma the last time they had a really good deal and I could't be more impressed for the bang for the buck you get outta this tv....Blu-ray PS3 plus this TV is just awesome.....It upscales SD video really freaking well too
For the price you can't go wrong.....BTW I went the plasma route because all the cheaper LCD's look grainy to me....

The only negative is a slight buzzing noise it makes from time to time which I think has something to do with the stand (Some people that buy this tv don't get ones that buzz apparently)

Even thought the pixels are rectangle, does it not lose some picture quality due to a 720p signal be defined as 1280x720?

Does it also mean that 4:3 material will look odd on this tv?
