The reasoning behind me suggesting a UPS or AVR-type device is because household voltage fluctuates widely. The more fluctuations the more the electronics in the TV have to compensate, like the TV's power supply or transformers etc. I'm sure that the bulb would last longer under a constant voltage.

cheap UPSs don't condition line voltage last i checked. you'd need a UPS with an in-line battery for that.
