Vizio 32" Plasma Opinions

I am considering buying the following Vizio from walmart or this Toshiba from CC.

I went to the store and the picture quality is amazing for the Vizio. However, there is one factor I am worried about.

Will it suffer from the dreaded "Burn In" issues from television and movie watching. I am not a gamer so that is out. It is a new TV made recently, but will it have those logos from channels in the corner and those black bars from movie ratios?

What would you guys suggest?

I have an 18 month old 42" Vizio plasma with no burn in issues at all. Use it for TV watching and Netflix watch instantly movies. Once I got past the 100 hour burn in, I stopped stretching SD material (I.e. it has pillarbars). It does have some image retention (like any plasma), but normally goes away within an hour.

For example, if I watch a day of football on Fox I can see the little bar across the top between channel changes (when the screen is black), but within an hour (or even less) it is gone.

If the Vizio had an on-timer, I would already have one for my bedroom (use my TV as an alarm clock), but it only has an off timer 🙁

Correction, like some plasmas. I don't get ANY IR on mine. 😉

With Plasmas, does the 10x7 resolution have a negative impact on PQ, compared to a higher res LCD or CRT?

10x7 resolution? Mine is native 1024x768, but then the pixels are a 16:9 shape and not square. I see no issues when connected to my laptop at 1280x720 resolution.

My Samsung has started to show some IR after 2 years. I first noticed it during the Olympics this year (damn you NBC and your cockamamy super-bright peacock logo flashing in the upper right-hand corner! *shakes fist).

I've read that of the big three for plasmas (Samsung, Panasonic, Pioneer), Sammies suffer from IR at at an unusual rate. Mine didn't really start happening until I got the "blue sparklies,"which is common with my model. A voltage readjustment generally fixes it, if but temporarily. My specific model has a faulty board, and that usually needs to be replaced. Anyhoo, after the tech came by and did the simple adjustment, the sparklies returned, though more limited, a few months later. I started noticing the IR mostly where the sparklies were occurring.

Only the bright, high contrast logos cause IR for me. But yeah, it's generally gone within 30 minutes and usually only noticeable between commercials (dark screen)

I don't understand this question. plasmas and LCDs are made with the same native resolutions and are directly comparable. The differences in PQ are due to everything but resolution...

Not quite, some of the older 720p plasmas are 1024x768 with 16:9 pixels, I have yet to see an LCD 16:9 TV with that resolution. Most of the newer are your standard 1280x720 or 1280x768 for 720p
