VIVO

I am looking to upgrade my Gateway, X2 4200 with 2 gigs of RAM and integrated video. I am currently looking at a 7600 GT but what are the benefits of a card with VIVO and what exactly is VIVO. Also, what are good cards in the mid $200 range that are VIVO enabled. Thanks.

VIVO is useful if you want to hook up a camcorder to your computer. Basically it provides a video in (RCA Composite + S-Video usually). You'll also get a video out connection, which lets you output to a TV, but this generally available on non VIVO cards.

I don't think it is particularly useful.

Oh, I thought it was something that had to do with the GPU. Ok so there are no performance increases with VIVO. Thanks. So what is the best card to get around $200 to match with my X2 4200 and 2 gigs of RAM??

vivo stands for video in video out so no on the performance increase

i have a question for the guy that mentionned the camcorder thing.

i want to do this.. but how do i sync the audio that would be plugged in my sound card's line-in with the video feed plugged in my vivo port ?

what software should i buy to allow good video capture with sound from an old camcorder?

thanks

Mmm... maybe an nvidia 7600GT. Or else, you can find an X850XT for less than that. People sometimes argue for about 3 thread pages worth about which is better. But those are basically your choices in that price range.

Alternatively, you can wait for a killer deal on a X1800XT-256MB, or a 7900GT. A 7900GS just came out with MSRP of 250. I think.

Edit: This. or This. Do a search, there are other similar models, for instance eVGA has a larger MIR on some of those. I'd hate to have to make that decision, they're both a great deal at this point.
