I am normally not keen on allegations of design copy, but this one seems rather blatant, no?

I mean, it's as if they set out with a goal of giving birth to a love child of the iPhone 6 and the Galaxy S7 Edge, instead of taking cues here and there as their design moved forward.

I don't see what the problem is?

Pools are usually rectangular with blue tiles. I don't see why I too could not make a rectangular blue tiled pool?

If they did not copy (2 of the most successful) designs, you and any more would not comment. It would go under the radar.

I wish one of these things would rip off the one and only Apple feature that I liked: physical switch for silent mode

I don't think there is anything wrong with copying. Obviously the phone is not meant to be sold in the U.S., and I am all for narrow definition for intellectual properties. Indeed this phone should be stronger than the S7 Edge thanks to its aluminium construction. I think the phone looks great. I just thought the design looks to be borne out of the goal of explicitly marrying the two popular phones, which is kind of amusing.

I agree. But I don't have much faith in design teams of these chinese OEM, in which case, and until they are mostly localized, copycat approach is probably the best.

Most people would prefer it, I'd wager.
