i'm was wondering if there is any software out there that would let me watch TV using my VIVO card, I would convert the coax to s-video using a modulator, then plug that into the card.... is this possible???? or would i still need a seperate tv tuner card watch tv?/????

Yeah I've been wondering about that myself... I'd rather keep my VCR attached to my TV instead of my computer--so no one knows of a tuner device that does coax in/s-video out?

nope, no software with the card (just drivers). it's a geforce4 4200, it just has an s-video port, so that's why i would need a device that goes cable -> s-video....

if all it has is an S-video then it's just TV-out not VideoIn\VideoOut (VIVO). it would have this if it was VIVO.

Actually it is video in/video out. The card simply has a single S-Video like port (there are a few extra pins) and an adapter that splits it into 2 standard S-Video ports labeled in and out. So I can hook up my VCR, camcorder, etc to those ports and get video in or out. So if I want to watch TV, I can plug in my VCR to the Video In and use its tuner. However, what I'm lacking is that breakout box shown in that link for Personal Cinema--the one that has a cable (coax) input and an S-Video output that goes to the card. So that's what I was hoping to find information on (if a standalone device like that exists)--without the graphics card, etc that comes in the Personal Cinema package. I hope that makes it more clear!

well chaintech's site says the cables are included in the optional bundle. sounds like you got the card used and not all the parts with it. maybe you can write them and get the cable which will likely be the personal cinema dongle that nvidia shows on their site.
good luck

I have the bundle cable but can't seem to capture any thing. What could be wrong? Should I get new drivers? The cd's that came with the card are elsewhere for a while...

Mine's new, and it has all the parts listed in the manual... the dongle is actually the splitter that splits the S-Video like port on the card to two standard S-Video ports for in and out. The cable included is just a standard S-Video cable. I think that breakout box only comes with the Personal Cinema package, which I didn't get... oh well. I was hoping that would be included as a separate package but guess not. Thanks for all your help though.

Stinkymeat, make sure you install the WDM drivers as well as the Detonator drivers, you can get them both from NVidia's site. The Detonator drivers are good enough for just the regular stuff (displaying graphics, etc) but you need the WDM drivers in addition to capture.
