Visual Studio and Windows ME

I installed Visual Studio and J++ on my Athlon 800/256 ram Windows ME machine and now when I start up it plays the startup sound but then pauses for a few secs (maybe 15 max) before loading up the WinME GUI. I am running service pack 4 for Visual Studio.
is this normal or is there a fix for this?
it does not do this on my Win2k machine (Celeron 600/128megs of ram)

If you think it's a problem with your AMD/VIA hardware I suggest getting those VIA 4-in-1 drivers, and getting the latest bios for your motherboard.

I have run Visual Studio on many different platforms and usually the culprit is the hardware, needs to be updated etc., VS is a pretty solid development platform that doesn't really have a preference.

But you should run Windows NT anyways, WinME is not a good development platform.
