thanks op!

<EDIT> say I don't want to install right away (or for a year or more...) it seems that as long as you download within the 1 year, the programs are free forever. Does this mean I have to download the FULL version? or just the installer (~3MB) and can keep that around to install any time?

Anyone know?

Yes, you have to download each part IF you want C#,C++,basic..web..whatever else.. 5 parts @ ~450MB each. (Do the MANUAL install info.)

express=free (for now) $50 after 1 year I guess.
Normal = pro = $$$$
It also looks like you do NOT get good optimisers with the express version. (same limitations as before between normal & pro versions).

This also means you need to register 5 products to get 5 keys if you do get all 5 products that is.

What is the difference between express and normal?

HUGE difference.

By normal, I'm referring to the pro editions. I don't think they have standard editions anymore do they?

These editions are meant for the casual programmer and hobbyist. Stay within those bounds and these tools will be perfect. Try to do some real work and you will hit major limits. Pretty much perfect for learning, otherwise you need to shell out cash. I think you can get Pro upgrade for about $479, full version for ~$800.

Thanks for the heads-up tfinch2. Here's hoping MS keeps us dial-uppers in mind and releases it on CD(s).😉
