visual studio 2005 db connection

i'm playing around with visual studio 2005 express and learning c#. I took a C++ class years ago and finally decided to really learn to code. I have SQL 2005 Developer Edition on my PC and can't seem to get a db connection from VS.

Is the express edition limited to SQL 2005 Express? Or do you have to unmount the database that you want to use from SQL?
