Hey All,
Just put together my new computer the other night and am in the process of getting everything updated. I have a ATI Radeon HD 5870 as my video card. I updated the drivers for it. I also updated windows 7. Currently I get green specks of pixels on any pictures, videos and on the internet ads and stuff like that or pictures on website. I'm not sure what to do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. I may have not updated something that needed updated yet. I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks guys!

Possible bad video card?

Also sounds a little like the problem with those SOYO 24" LCD monitors from OfficeMax a few years ago. It turned out they came with subpar video cables.

What type of monitor do you have and is it connected to the video card with the digital or analog cable? Have you used this monitor and cable on a different PC or is it new?

The monitor is one I used from my previous computer and it worked fine for it. I'm hoping it is not the video card. I'm not sure what else I could do for it.

Do you have a spare known working video card you can use to test with? If not, you might want to check into buying a low priced video card on sale for ~$25 to test with.

Also make sure the video card power cable(s) are plugged in properly.

I switched monitors to my brothers and it still doesnt work. Im going to check the wires and try the other port to plug the monitor in on the video card and see if that makes a difference.

Edit: Yeah that stuff didnt work. Everything seems to be snug in place.

I just tried playing a game and it appears that there are no green spots in the game play itself but still on pictures and videos. The YouTube vidoes I was watching seemed ok as well.

Some people said it's my power supply. Could this be? I'm just confused cause others say it's good enough.

Have you tested with another video card? Have you tested the suspect video card in another computer?

Rule out the obvious first.

Swapped my old video card in and the problem went away. So I RMA'd my new video card.
